In this course, I did a pecha-kucha presentation on my major written project which is about Souther accents and dialects. This presentation definitely utilised the oral mode. I felt like during the presentation, I could speak confidently and say the message fluently. However, one short-coming is that I could not time myself well. Since this presentation only allows 20 seconds each slide and would automatically move on to the next one. I should have practised a lot more to know how much I should say.
In terms of body language, I was able to walk around the space in front of the screen and point out the things on the screen that I was talking about. I was also able to make eye contacts with the audience and speak loud enough so that everyone could hear me clearly.
Another form of the aural+oral mode was in-class discussion, unlike make presentation, discussion within a group was a more casual and conversational process. I not only practised how to share my ideas clearly orally, but also learn from others while they were speaking. Because of the immediate back-and-forth conversation, I was able to apply what I just learned from others to my next round of speaking. For example, instead of talking about a concept abstractly, I should use an example in detail to support me.
